GOLF CLUB SOUFFLENHEIM

Presentation and rules

Playing an elegant version of football on a golf course to golf rules – that might be a good definition of Foot Golf.
Invented in the Netherlands in 2009, Foot Golf is sporting and leisure activity, played outdoors, in a friendly atmosphere, ideal for playing with family, friends or in a club.
A fast-growing discipline, Foot Golf is attracting more and more players all over the world.
A combination of two of the world’s most popular sports, golf and football, the principle of Foot Golf is simple: it is played on a 9 or 18-hole course, alone or in teams of two and the aim is to get a football into a suitable hole (55 cm in diameter and 30 cm deep), on a golf course, with as few kicks as possible.

The 10 rules of Foot Golf

Kit and equipment: Bermuda shorts, polo shirt, long socks, beret, trainers or artificial turf football boots, a football, ball marker. NB: no studs allowed!

For the first kick, position your ball between the two start markers and up to two meters behind the markers

The ball must be played in a single, sharp movement. The foot must not "accompany" the ball. Pushing the ball with the sole of your foot has been banned since June 2014.

Your ball must be easily identifiable.

Wait until everyone has had their turn before moving onto the course.

Don't play until the ball has stopped completely (it is not permitted to stop a ball blown along by the wind).

Follow the order of players and the scores, and wait your turn to play. The player the furthest away from the hole will be the first to take the next kick.

Play the ball where it is: it is forbidden to move the ball or any obstacles. If the ball is in a bunker, run-ups are not allowed.

Always rake over the bunker after you have played in it.

If the ball goes in the water, retrieve it and place it within two steps of the closest land point to where it went into the water, or replace it at the position of the previous kick. In both cases, you will incur a one-stroke penalty.

Make sure your kick will not interfere with other players. In the approach to a hole or at a partner's request, mark the spot and remove your ball.

IMPORTANT: As for all sports, it is important to get a licence. This costs just €10 a year.
